Status:
Hourly non-exempt, represented, Part Time, 24 hours / week. 6am - 2pm
Supervision:
No direct supervisory responsibility

About the Role:
As a Produce Receiver, you will have the opportunity to support our retail operations by receiving and inspecting produce, checking deliveries for quality, and documenting and storing received produce.

What You'll Do:
You will lead the efforts to receive, check in, and route produce deliveries; ensure proper food storage and handling procedures; and review invoices for accuracy. In addition, you'll collaborate with other members to support the following areas:
Separate and divert deliveries to correct storage areas
Maintain a clean and organized dock/receiving room
Use a forklift and pallet jack to safely and efficiently receive deliveries as needed. Stack pallets as needed
Follow proper lifting and handling procedures to ensure personal health and safety
Ensure all boxes are properly labeled and stored with date, distributor and rotated into back stock
Effectively communicate with buyers and stockers about product quality, out of stocks and/or returns
Stock product as necessary
Greet and offer assistance to customers
Treat people fairly, consistently and with respect
Know product locations in order to assist customers in finding what they need throughout the store
Abide by all co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents
Participate in required training and meetings
Keep the store orderly and clean
Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
What You Bring:
This role requires the following education, experience, skills and abilities:
Thorough knowledge of produce department operations
Basic understanding of organic standards as they apply to retail produce
A positive attitude and a collaborative spirit
Willingness to be open, to learn and take on new responsibilities
Regular, predictable attendance
Effective communication skills in English
Ability to read and comprehend instructions
Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness
Ability to work independently
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle multiple demands
Adherence to deadlines
Ability to use a pallet stacker
Nice-to-Haves:
Its a bonus if you have one or more of the following:
Previous experience or knowledge in produce receiving
Previous experience working in a co-operative environment

Specific vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and adjust to focus
Must be able to lift 75 pounds
Work Environment:
Fast paced retail environment with food service equipment and coolers and in cold/hot working conditions (i.e. cooler or near heated surfaces). Other high to moderate noise including but not limited to computers, cash registers, paging, telephones, music and human voices.
