Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Development Director, administers the land development regulations and comprehensive land use plan and their regulations. Incumbent responsibilities include the coordination of the development applications for new development projects. Performs other work as requested. Work is reviewed through written reports for adherence to established policies and procedures.
Examples of Essential Functions
Administers the City's Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan; prepares reports and recommendations affecting planning and community development.
Assists in the review and processing of site plans, zoning changes, future land use amendments, subdivisions, variances, and other planning-related development applications.
Analyzes and provides re-application review of land use petitions and requests.
Acts as the planner of the day and provides information to the general public and contractors regarding existing and future planning projects, site plans, zoning, ordinances, codes, and regulations.
Presents special projects, studies, or other departmental reports before the staff, Advisory Board, City Commission and representative citizen groups.
Administers zoning regulations; drafts new and amends various regulations within the land development code.
Administers and ensures compliance with goals, objectives, and policies within the City Comprehensive Plan; drafts new and amends various elements within the Comprehensive Plan.
Represents City on various intergovernmental boards.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in planning, public administration, geography, environmental science, or related field. Minimum 4 years of experience in planning, urban design, or related field preferred. Experience in review or site design of development projects; land development regulation review and interpretation for a government agency preferred; knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, GIS and AutoCAD a plus. Master's Degree in Urban Planning may substitute for 2 years of experience.
Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required.
