DESCRIPTION:
Ring is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Device Guardians team, where youll build the foundational backend services that power device
management for millions of Ring devices worldwide. As the team responsible for Device Registry, the core service managing all Ring device metadata at over 1 million transactions per second, youll directly impact how customers interact with their Ring ecosystem through mobile apps and smart home integrations.

Youll collaborate across Rings software, firmware, and product organizations while working with AWS technologies to solve complex distributed systems challenges. This role offers the opportunity to architect solutions that process real-time device events, trigger automated responses (like motion-activated lighting), and enable seamless device configuration experiences for Rings growing customer base.

Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the definition, vision, design, roadmap and development of core services at Ring that make our neighborhoods
safer.

This role involves design, architecture, implementation, and operation of large-scale cloud systems. You will be given the opportunity to autonomously deliver the technical direction of
these services and the feature roadmap. You will leverage modern AI-powered development tools - including coding agents, AI skills, and assistive tooling - to accelerate development,
improve code quality, and drive engineering productivity across the team. You will work with extraordinary talent and have the opportunity to hire and shape the team to best execute on
the product.

The ideal candidate:

- Has a strong foundation in software development, design patterns, and cloud computing
- Has experience working with large-scale cloud systems, understanding how to architect and build them
- Embraces AI-assisted development workflows, including coding agents, AI-powered code review, automated testing tools, and prompt engineering to enhance development velocity and quality
- Is highly effective and thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple, changing priorities
- Knows what is important when shipping products to customers and has been through the process from start to finish
- Promotes robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and can deliver high quality work on tight schedules
- Is comfortable with proactive outward communication and technical leadership and never shies away from a challenge
- Actively explores and adopts emerging AI tools and technologies to continuously improve engineering workflows and team productivity

foundation other teams depend on daily.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
