SUMMARY:
The Transportation Clerk provides clerical support to the daily operation of the transportation department. The clerk assists the lead secretary with general office/clerical duties, dispatch, and routing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children;
Prior job-related experiences paid or voluntary with office management;
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Possess or ability/willingness to obtain/maintain a CDL B with required endorsements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with maintaining driver credential records
Assist with and maintain bus routes within routing software
Create and schedule extra duty routes (i.e. athletics, extracurricular)
Dispatch during bus runs
Assist with the management of substitute drivers
Answers calls regarding student transportation changes and relays changes to the appropriate driver
Assist Drivers with time clock and payroll systems and email
Assist with District vehicle trip reports
Assist with providing parent contact information for bus referrals
Assist with maintaining calendars
Participate in in-service education, conferences or formal classes related to assignments ? Show initiative when working with children or using materials
Maintain cooperative, effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work ? Maintain confidentiality of student records
Meet schedules and deadlines
Print, collate, and mail important information to staff and community
Assist with creating and maintaining staff directory and call lists
Maintain and record all digital documents, confidential files, and correspondence
Perform usual office routines
Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, must be able to see and hear the entire classroom, and moving light furniture may be required.
SAFETY AND HEALTH:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS HANDLED:
Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hourly rate and work year per Mattawan Educational Support Association collective bargaining agreement.
