JOB DESCRIPTION
Own the architecture, planning, and delivery of the Discoverer‑to‑PBIRS migration. This role will translate complex business reporting needs into a secure, auditable, scalable on‑prem architecture, manage delivery phases and risk, and ensure a clean handoff to internal support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design:
Define the target-state architecture, including:
Direct-query operational reporting against Oracle EBS
SQL Server dimensional data warehouse for analytics
Optional data lake tier Power BI Report Server as the report delivery layer
Security, auditing, and scheduling services
Make and document key architectural decisions:
Import vs DirectQuery vs Composite models
Security model aligned to Oracle EBS responsibilities
Auditing and data retention requirements
Program Leadership:
Own the end-to-end delivery plan, breaking the program into phases with:
Entry/exit criteria
Dependencies
Risks and mitigations
Expected phases include:
Discovery & Inventory
Infrastructure Stand‑Up
Data Architecture & ETL
Report Migration
Security & Audit
Cutover & Discoverer Decommission
Governance & Delivery:
Build and maintain the program cost model
Produce budget, timeline, and total cost of ownership estimates
Lead architecture review board sessions
Ensure the solution meets audit, security, and compliance requirements
Hand off architecture artifacts and operational procedures to internal teams
In-Scope Environment:
Source System: Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.12 (Oracle DB 19c)
Modules: GL, AP, AR, Cash Management, Projects (Costing/Billing), Purchasing, Inventory, BOM, WIP, Manufacturing, Quality, EAM, OM, Shipping
Reporting Platform: Power BI Report Server (on‑prem only)
Data Platform: SQL Server (separate physical or virtual server)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
10+ years in enterprise BI / data platform architecture At least two full-lifecycle Microsoft BI implementations
Proven experience reporting on or integrating with Oracle ERP systems (EBS R12 or Oracle Fusion)
Hands-on Power BI Report Server experience (refresh behavior, licensing, limitations, feature gaps vs Power BI Service)
Strong background designing solutions for high‑security, regulated environments (finance, utilities, healthcare, defense, critical infrastructure)
Demonstrated ability to:
Build phased delivery plans Produce accurate cost and effort estimates
Manage risk and dependencies
Excellent communication skills with both executive stakeholders and hands‑on technical teams
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience replacing Oracle Discoverer, OBIEE, Cognos, BusinessObjects, or MicroStrategy with Microsoft BI
Prior ownership of large‑scale reporting modernization programs in on‑prem environments
Compensation:
$65/hr to $80/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
