Help

Applies knowledge to assigned programs/projects to ensure that latest technology is properly incorporated, considering such factors as cost, interoperability, industry trends, performance, reliability, and functional improvements.
Serves as expert advisor and consultant in assigned functional areas to other engineers and program officials within the command, Army, and DoD.
Develops innovative technical solutions to integrate diverse legacy components and directs technology infusion into installed operational systems and networks
Serves as a Senior Computer Scientist, IT Infrastructure Engineer, and Project Leader, offering expert advice and consultation for assigned programs and projects.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
Per DoDM 8140.03, Cyber roles (excl. Data/AI/SWE) must meet assigned proficiency Level 1: 1) Foundational qual in 9mo, 2) Resident qual in 12mo, and 3) 20 hrs CPD for code 671.
This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for (insert Functional Area) certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and education requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist:

Degree: Bachelor's degree in computer science

or

bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: ) experience leading the design, development, and integration of modeling and simulation programs for the test and evaluation of complex systems such as Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC); 2) experience applying expert-level skill with simulation protocols and applications such as Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA), One Semi-Automated Forces (OneSAF), or Joint Network Emulator (JNE); (3) experience managing technical programs to include developing statements of work, creating cost proposals, and briefing senior leaders on project status, risks, and outcomes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13/NH-03).

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement..
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for (Level 1) certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty.
The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The band NH-04 is equal to the former GS-14 Step 01 through GS-15 step 10. ATEC uses salary control points to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $188,167 including locality.
