Job Title: Software Verification Engineer
Job Description
The Software Verification Engineer designs, documents, and executes comprehensive software tests while producing clear and thorough software documentation. This role combines hands-on test engineering with detailed verification planning and reporting to ensure high-quality, reliable software for both new development and sustaining engineering projects.
Responsibilities

Design, implement, debug, and execute software tests for new and sustaining engineering projects.
Develop and maintain software test process documentation, including verification plans, test designs, and test protocols.
Perform unit, integration, system, and capacity/performance testing of software applications.
Conduct software requirement analysis to ensure test coverage and traceability.
Participate in test reviews to identify issues, clarify requirements, and recommend improvements.
Review test plans and test designs collaboratively with development engineers.
Document defects clearly and thoroughly to support efficient debugging and resolution.
Use defect management and test management tools to track issues and test execution, where applicable.
Collect and analyze test data to generate metrics that assess test progress, coverage, and overall software quality.
Support continuous improvement of test processes, documentation standards, and verification methodologies.
Essential Skills

At least 2 years of relevant experience in software testing, validation, or verification.
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing unit, integration, and functional software tests.
Hands-on experience with software documentation, including test plans, protocols, and reports.
Experience performing software requirement analysis to define appropriate test strategies and test cases.
Background in software development sufficient to understand code behavior and support debugging activities.
Strong understanding of software validation, software testing, and software verification principles.
Ability to design and execute tests for complex software applications with attention to detail and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in the development and verification of systems that include PLC and HMI components.
Familiarity with medical device software environments or similarly regulated domains.
Understanding of usability and human factors considerations in software design and testing.
Experience developing and verifying language localization solutions.
Hands-on experience with defect management and test management tools.
Knowledge of software development standards such as the IEEE series and IEC standards.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering groups and disciplines.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role within a collaborative engineering environment. The Software Verification Engineer works closely with approximately 15 colleagues and will split time between two focused groups of around five team members each. The work involves direct interaction with development and test engineers, frequent technical discussions, and shared ownership of test planning and execution. The environment supports structured verification activities, clear documentation practices, and the use of industry standards and tools to ensure high-quality software outcomes.

This is a Contract position based out of Mentor, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
