Data Center Facility Manager
The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and reliability of a
285,000-square-foot, 15-megawatt mission-critical data center facility . This role oversees daily facility operations, infrastructure performance, and preventative maintenance programs while leading a team of approximately
5 to 12 building engineers and technical staff . The Facility Manager ensures that all electrical, mechanical, and critical systems operate at the highest levels of availability, safety, and efficiency while supporting client and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for all
data center facility operations , including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and building management systems.
Manage and mentor a team of
5-12 facility engineers , ensuring proper coverage, training, and performance management.
Maintain
maximum uptime and operational reliability
for all mission-critical systems supporting a
15 MW data center environment .
Develop and enforce
preventative maintenance programs
for critical infrastructure such as UPS systems, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, pumps, and associated controls.
Oversee
troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis
for facility-related events or outages.
Coordinate and manage
vendors, contractors, and service providers
performing maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with
safety procedures, operational standards, and regulatory compliance requirements .
Maintain accurate
documentation, logs, and operational reports
related to maintenance activities, incidents, and facility performance.
Support
capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades
as the facility scales or customer requirements evolve.
Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and leadership to ensure
facility readiness, reliability, and service delivery
expectations are consistently met.
Manage facility budgets related to maintenance, contracts, and operational improvements.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in
data center facilities, critical infrastructure, or mission-critical environments .
3+ years of
leadership or supervisory experience
managing engineering or technical operations teams.
Strong knowledge of
electrical and mechanical infrastructure
including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, chillers, cooling systems, and Client/EPMS platforms.
Experience supporting
high-availability environments
requiring strict uptime and operational procedures.
Ability to lead teams during
critical incidents, maintenance windows, and operational events .
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing facilities
10 MW or larger .
Background in
data center operations or large mission-critical facilities .
Technical certifications or trade experience in
electrical, mechanical, or controls systems .
Familiarity with
preventative maintenance platforms and operational management systems
used in data center environments.
Work Environment
This position operates within a
285,000 sq. ft. mission-critical data center facility
with
15 MW of critical load capacity . The Facility Manager leads a team of
5-12 engineers
