Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a
Toolroom/Shipping & Receiving Associate
for a shipyard client in Pensacola, FL. This dual-purpose role is critical to maintaining production flow by ensuring all tools, dies, and fixtures are maintained, tracked, and ready for use, while also overseeing accurate receipt of incoming materials and sourcing necessary consumables to keep operations running. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of marine tools with strong organizational skills and a commitment to safety compliance.
Rate:
$17-$20/hr BOE
Schedule & Hours:
Mon - Fri 40 hours per week
Responsibilities:
Toolroom Management & Inventory Control
Oversee daily tool room operations, including maintenance, repair, and organization of tools, dies, and fixtures
Manage check-in/check-out processes for staff with precise records of usage, losses, and damage
Maintain min/max inventory levels for all tools and consumables to support production schedules
Improve tool storage and accessibility to minimize crew downtime
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the tool room and receiving areas
Shipping, Receiving & Vendor Relations
Safely offload items from transport vehicles and inspect for visible damage
Verify deliveries against packing lists and Purchase Orders (POs), confirming SKU numbers and quantities
Document all discrepancies, damages, shortages, or overages on the Bill of Lading (BOL) or receiving reports with photographic evidence
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve reliability and reduce lead times
Procurement & Coordination
Source tools or specialized services from external vendors as needed
Generate and manage Purchase Orders for a steady supply of materials
Coordinate with supervisors to identify and fulfill supply needs for upcoming projects
Arrange specialized external repairs (e.g., welding, porta-powers, mag drills) when in-house maintenance is insufficient
Documentation & Computer Operations
Use computer systems to track inventory, generate reports, and process procurement documentation
Maintain digitized records of orders, PO numbers, tool maintenance logs, safety checks, and receiving reports
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of shipyard experience and MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE of TOOLS
Computer skills are required, proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), internet, and office equipment (scanner/printer), with strong file management skills
Strong understanding of tool maintenance and shipyard-related equipment
Excellent attention to detail, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
Employees must supply their own steel-toed safety boots
Employees must be willing to assist; they may occasionally be asked to support other areas, cover for absent staff, or support teams with tight deadlines
Safety Requirements
Adhere strictly to all OSHA regulations and company safety policies
Inspect equipment and confirm safety measures are in place before use or distribution
Required PPE during normal operating hours: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Plugs, and Safety-Toed Shoes; Respirators and Fall Protection required in applicable areas
Frequent walking and standing on uneven or wet surfaces while receiving shipments.
Lifting and handling heavy tools and equipment (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
Bending, reaching, and crouching to access inventory or inspect incoming goods.
Work is performed in outdoor conditions with regular exposure to the elements, including extreme heat, rain, and cold.
Exposure to noise, vibration, and water spray is typical of a shipyard environment.
