Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in Lansing, MI that is seeking a Database Architect. This is for a large, enterprise-scale organization operating complex, high-availability data environments across multiple business functions. The company relies on a diverse set of relational and non-relational database platforms to support mission-critical applications and data-driven decision-making.Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate, design, and recommend database architectures and solutions that ensure optimal performance, scalability, availability, and maintainability across enterprise systems
Develop and maintain documentation covering database standards, best practices, and usage guidelines across multiple database platforms
Manage and coordinate relationships with external vendors providing database technologies, tools, and support services
Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for internal teams and external stakeholders using enterprise database systems
Assess emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving business needs to define strategic direction, including buy vs. build recommendations and future roadmap planning
Mentor and guide database administrators and technical leads to strengthen capabilities and align technical execution with business objectives
Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 7 years of database administration experience in enterprise environments
Hands-on experience in a lead technical role supporting multiple database platforms (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, Snowflake, MongoDB)
Experience designing and automating database maintenance processes in Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux environments
Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and tools
Experience implementing and supporting high availability and disaster recovery database solutions
Familiarity with cloud-based database services and architectures
Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline integration
Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance issues across teams
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
Demonstrated ability to mentor technical staff and influence best practices
Strong analytical thinking with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and propose innovative solutions
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
