SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the IT Network Administrator I supports and maintains WAN, LAN, wireless, VoIP, and cloud connectivity across the organization. This role provides day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and administration of network services to ensure availability, reliability, and compliance. The IT Network Administrator I also supports application connectivity, assists with disaster recovery, mentors IT Specialists and interns, and collaborates with vendors and IT staff on network projects.

Duties to include but not limited to:
• Provide day-to-day support for WAN, LAN, wireless, VoIP, and cloud connectivity
• Administer firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access solutions
• Monitor network performance, bandwidth, and uptime using appropriate monitoring tools
• Develop and use automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline routine network administration tasks
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues; escalate complex cases as needed
• Support patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of network devices


Support application and cloud connectivity, DNS, and network access to ensure reliable system availability
• Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation for network systems
• Document network configurations, diagrams, inventory, and service tickets
• Collaborate with IT leadership and compliance staff to ensure regulatory and policy requirements are met
• Manage vendor remote access and assist with vendor/service provider troubleshooting
• Participate in IT projects, supporting network planning and implementation


Mentor IT Specialists and interns by providing guidance, training, and hands-on support in networking practices
• May perform other job duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI

MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
• High school graduate or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelor's degree a plus.
• Network+, Security+ or equivalent
• CCNA or equivalent
• Advanced understanding of technology interoperability with a focus on networking and security technologies
• Knowledge of wireless and firewall technologies
• Ability to work in multiple systems concurrently while providing support services.
• Ability to quickly adapt to a dynamic environment and handle difficult personnel situations.
• Solid communication skills including excellent writing and presentation skills
• Ability to develop and write systems and applications documentation and guides for users.
• Ability to work in multiple systems concurrently while providing support services.
• Proficient computer skills (i.e. Office Suite, Ticketing Systems, Web applications etc.)
• Knowledge of IT and security industry best practices
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues
• Ability to respond to help desk requests after hours on a limited basis
• Ability to develop and write systems and applications documentation and guides for users.
• Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license and current vehicle registration and auto insurance
• Reliable transportation- Travel up to

• Communicates effectively both verbally and written with ability to follow up as necessary.
• Assume responsibility for updating knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices.
