Facility Manager
Coordinates administrative and operational activities related to food service, janitorial, maintenance, and safety programs for an assigned facility to ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal guidelines and departmental policies, procedures and standards. Management Scope: Supervises non-exempt staff members.
1. Coordinates budget activities for an assigned facility to include monitoring purchases, expenditures, supply and service contracts, payroll and funds; interacts with vendors and contract service providers to resolve problems; coordinates and monitors payment processing and billing; 2. Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; coordinates work assignments to ensure adequate staffing, evaluates performance, initiates disciplinary actions, coordinates leave and maintains time and attendance reports. 3. Oversees food service operations including menu planning, ordering, quality control, cost containment and ensures compliance with health and sanitation standards. 4. Coordinates inspections and emergency evacuation drills; monitors security; and acts as a certification coordinator to ensure the facility is in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal guidelines and mandates. 5. Oversees the maintenance of supply and equipment inventory, household items, food staples and other items. 6. Monitors systems and procedures to ensure daily operations and security, including ongoing maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles. 7. Assists in budget preparation; prepares reports including recommendations to improve financial reporting. 8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration or a job related field of study. One (1) year professional work related experience. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license, with a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment. "Position requires working with juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; should possess a high tolerance for working in an emotionally demanding/stressful work environment." Physical/Environmental Requirements: Standard office environment within a secured facility. Must be able to visit various off-site locations. An employee may be transferred to another department, shift, location, or facility based on the needs of the Department. Working in a 24-hour facility may make the employee subject to working mandatory overtime or remaining on duty and working all, or a part of, an additional shift ("double shift"). The incumbent is / may be considered to be 'essential personnel' subject to being held over or called back to a work location or alternate site at all times. When required, you will be notified by your supervisor. Must be at least 21 years of age (for applicable positions) and must pass all portions (physical/written) of the Juvenile Academy to continue employment or all standards related to PREA and Ethics for specific positions.
