Inspection Specialist

Perform basic inspection activities of product, materials, first piece inspection and in-process monitoring as assigned. Report to Value Stream Manager/Sr. Team Leader on work assignments to meet production schedules. Report to Quality Assurance Supervisor regarding quality issues. Assign tasks to inspectors to ensure that production schedules are met.

Training will take place on 1st shift (MondayFriday, 6:00 AM

3:30 PM). Upon completion of training, the schedule will transition to 2nd shift (MondayFriday, 3:15 PM

12:45 AM).
Responsibilities:
Performs visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. With assistance as required from a senior inspector, perform 1st piece and in-process inspection in assigned value stream.
Identifies defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blueprints and Kamatics quality standards. Reports non-conformist of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Supervisor and cell leader.
Uses a variety of required basic inspection devices, tools and instruments to verify drawing specifications.
Performs all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follows work procedures.
Complete basic inspection forms as instructed.
Prepare product and related paperwork for presentation to customer, as instructed.
Maintains clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Reports safety incidents to supervisor.
Makes recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contributes to 5 S programs in work area.
Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.
Attend GD&T, blueprint reading, gauge training classes and other training, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in training/learning other positions. Accomplishes related results as needed.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Some work experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understand basic inspection or measuring devices (calipers, verniers)
Strong attention to detail with the ability to notice small discrepancies, defects or compliance issues.
Ability to write and document findings.
Ability to analyze inspection results and compare them against standards or specifications.
Basic math skills with ability to understand shop mathematics.
Ability to read technical drawings, op sheets and understand blueprints.
Ability to understand Statistical Process Control
Strong PC computer skills, with ability to use Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and an ERP system.
Physical Demands:
Frequent mental and visual attention
Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.

Will be required to work overtime and weekends to meet customer needs
