Environmental Services Technician (EVS)
Position: Environmental Services Technician Reports To: Facilities Engineer
Position Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the ambulatory surgery center. This role supports infection prevention efforts by ensuring proper cleaning and disinfection of clinical and non-clinical areas in accordance with AAAHC standards, CDC guidelines, and facility policies.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Disinfection: Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms, pre-op and PACU areas, procedure rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, offices, and common spaces. Follow approved cleaning agents per manufacturer instructions. Disinfect high-touch surfaces routinely.
Surgical/Clinical Support: Perform terminal cleaning of ORs. Assist with room turnover cleaning. Maintain cleanliness of patient care equipment and surfaces.
Waste & Linen Management: Dispose of regular waste, regulated medical waste, and sharps per policy. Handle soiled linen per infection control policy.
Infection Prevention & Safety: Follow PPE and bloodborne pathogen protocols. Participate in infection control initiatives. Report hazards or incidents.
Inventory & Supplies: Maintain cleaning supplies and PPE. Ensure proper chemical storage and labeling.
Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to AAAHC and OSHA standards. Maintain required documentation and logs. Participate in surveys and quality activities.

Work Environment
Ambulatory surgery center specializing in orthopedic procedures. Exposure to clinical areas and regulated waste. Must follow PPE requirements.
Reporting Structure
Reports to Facilities Engineer / Collaborates with Infection Preventionist

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Healthcare EVS experience preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control practices preferred.

- Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending and reaching
- Exposure to chemicals and biohazards
