Shift Supervisor
The Shift Supervisor is a front-line business leader responsible for delivering safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) results for their shift in a plastic extrusion manufacturing environment. This role owns the performance of the extrusion lines, drives accountability within the team, and leads continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for achieving measurable outcomesnot just managing activity.
The salary range for this role is $75,000-$100,000 per year. siffron considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Production Operations
Supervise daily extrusion operations including startup, changeovers, and shutdown procedures.
Ensure production schedules are executed to meet customer demand and on-time delivery.
Monitor extrusion lines for efficiency, throughput, and downtime.
Coordinate with scheduling, maintenance, and quality departments to maintain optimal production flow.
Troubleshoot production issues including process instability, material problems, or equipment performance.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce all plant safety policies and procedures.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Ensure safe operation of extrusion equipment, forklifts, and material handling systems.
Maintain compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards.
Quality Assurance
Ensure all products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Monitor process parameters such as temperature profiles, line speeds, and resin blends.
Work with Quality to address nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
Ensure proper documentation of quality checks and production data.
Inventory & Materials
Coordinate raw material supply to extrusion lines including resin, additives, and packaging materials.
Ensure proper material identification and traceability.
Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy efforts.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and scrap reduction.
Support Lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, waste reduction, and standard work.
Participate in root cause analysis for recurring production issues.

Safety performance (incident rates)
Production throughput and schedule attainment
Scrap and yield performance
Equipment uptime / downtime reduction
Employee engagement and retention
Quality metrics (customer complaints, internal defects)
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY
Directly supervise extrusion operators, and support staff on the shift.
Assign work, manage staffing levels, and ensure proper coverage across extrusion lines.
Train, coach, and develop employees to improve skill levels and performance
Conduct shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, and operational updates
Conduct annual performance reviews, attendance management, and disciplinary actions as needed.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full-Time, Monday to Friday; hours according to specified shift.
EDUCATION, LICESES, AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required
35 years of manufacturing experience required.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in plastic extrusion or polymer processing strongly preferred.
Bi-lingual speaking preferred.
