Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Technician - Level 2 to join our team in Devens, MA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. AOA Xinetics (AOX), a wholly owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Strategic Business Unit, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate light waves for a variety of applications. Our talented team of engineers, managers and technologists conceive, design, develop and manufacture high precision products in an environment that requires significant collaboration and teamwork among multiple engineering disciplines. Overview: Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, the Manufacturing Technician 2 performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies for our casted (Ceraform) and 3D Printed (Ceraprint) Silicon Carbide optics and mechanical structures. The Manufacturing Technician will use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment. They will determine and assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. The Manufacturing Technician works with engineers in conducting experiments.
In this job, you will:
Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations in ceramics fabrication.
Handling and managing fragile ceramic materials
Weighing and mixing raw materials
Preparing ceramic materials for firing in a furnace
Perform filing, grinding of ceramic materials
Assist with maintaining furnaces and processing equipment
Read and follow drawings, documentation and other instructions with strict adherence to procedural compliance.
Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
No clearance required to start
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated mechanical ability
Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
Able to read, write and work written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings
Excels in a team environment
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence
Ability to work under limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Standard computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel
Experience working in a ceramic manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace manufacturing environment)
Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issues.
Primary Level Salary Range: $51,400.00 - $85,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
