Your role and responsibilities
The SAP EWM Solution Architect is responsible for designing, leading, and delivering end-to-end SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) solutions that support complex warehouse and logistics operations. This role serves as the functional and architectural authority for EWM across program phases, ensuring solutions align with business strategy, SAP best practices, and long-term scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
Architect end-to-end SAP EWM solutions (Embedded or Decentralized)
Lead warehouse process design across inbound, outbound, and internal processes, picking, packing, staging, shipping, cross docking, kitting, value-added services, storage types, layouts, and warehouse structures
Define architecture for warehouse task & order management, labor management, yard logistics, slotting, rearrangement, and wave management
Ensure alignment with SAP best practices and industry standards
Stakeholder & Program Leadership
Act as the primary EWM subject matter expert and design authority
Lead design workshops with warehouse, logistics, and operations stakeholders
Partner with Solution Architects (S/4, TM, IBP) for end-to-end integration
Mentor junior consultants and offshore delivery teams
Present solution designs and trade-offs to senior leadership
Integration & Technical Oversight
Design EWM integration with SAP S/4HANA (SD, MM, PP, QM), SAP TM, Yard Logistics, Transportation Execution, and automation systems (WMS, MHE, PLC, RF, RFID, conveyors, AS/RS)
Collaborate with technical teams on IDocs, qRFCs, APIs, and middleware (CPI), RF framework configuration, and device strategy
Ensure master data alignment and data migration strategy
Delivery & Governance
Ensure solution quality across blueprint, build, test, and deployment phases
Review functional designs, configurations, and test scenarios
Support UAT, cutover, and go-live activities
Identify risks, dependencies, and optimization opportunities
Continuous Improvement & Optimization
Drive performance tuning and process optimization
Advise on warehouse automation, scalability, and future enhancements
Stay current on SAP EWM roadmap, releases, and innovations
Support post go-live stabilization and adoption
Required qualifications
8+ years of SAP Warehouse / Logistics experience
4+ years hands‑on SAP EWM implementation experience
Proven experience as an SAP EWM Solution Architect or Lead Consultant
Full lifecycle SAP EWM implementation experience (2+ projects preferred)
Deep functional knowledge of inbound/outbound processing, warehouse structure & master data, RF framework, labor management, yard management
Experience with both Embedded and Decentralized EWM
Strong understanding of EWM integration within S/4HANA
Excellent stakeholder communication and facilitation skills
Experience leading design and architecture decisions
Preferred qualifications
SAP EWM Certification (S/4HANA EWM preferred)
Experience with warehouse automation and MHE integrations
Exposure to SAP TM, GTS, or IBP
Consulting or system integrator background
Industry experience in Retail, Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, or Life Sciences
Strategic, solution-oriented mindset
