Janitor Position
The City of Lynnwood is seeking a Janitor! The hours for this position are 6:00pm - 2:30am. This does include weekends and holidays. The incumbent in this position is responsible for accomplishing custodial work within certain City facilities. Duties include janitorial work. The position is located within the Building and Property Services section of Public Works.
The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities:
Perform custodial duties for assigned buildings (Rec Center, WWTP, Police Dept, Maintenance buildings and City Hall)
Vacuum, spot clean carpets, steam clean carpets, clean halls and walkways, clean windows and polish brass.
Mop, strip, seal, and polish floors.
Remove trash and debris, empty wastebaskets.
Clean and disinfect restrooms and locker rooms, including toilets, showers, sinks, and water fountains; replenish tissue, towels, and soap.
Dust and clean offices and conference rooms, empty and clean ashtrays and trash receptacles; clean and arrange furniture; clean backs and arms of chairs, damp wipe table tops, desks, and bookcases.
Report when supplies are needed.
Maintain regular attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Ability to complete and learn basic janitorial tasks. Must pass a city background check. Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Equipment utilized includes standard cleaning equipment, as well as other job specific janitorial equipment.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently without continuous supervision
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and disinfectants.
Ability to perform simple and repetitive tasks.
Ability to bend at waist, lift, carry, push and pull cleaning equipment, move furniture and objects weighting up to 100 pounds, and reach overhead.
Visual acuity to read written and numerical materials.
Ability to speak and hear to exchange information.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work a graveyard shift--6:00pm to 2:30am. This does include weekends and holidays. This position is covered by the General Salary Ordinance.
