Custodian Position

The Dougherty County Facilities Management Department is hiring for a Custodian. The purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe environment for assigned Dougherty County Facilities.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential tasks include:
Maintains the interior cleaning of assigned facilities.
Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms and water fountains; restocks restroom supplies.
Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes and buffs floors.
Vacuums and shampoos carpets.
Empties, cleans, and relines trash containers.
Cleans mirrors, windows, and blinds.
Cleans up chemical spills.
Dusts and cleans base boards, walls, and counter tops.
Delivers, sets up, and takes down voting booths for elections.
Changes light bulbs.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of cleaning or maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Supplemental information:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
Special certifications and licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
