Plant Operator

is hiring a Plant Operator to join our Operations Services team located at our Fort Bragg Facility in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This position is onsite.
The Plant Operator is responsible for plant operations and overseeing boiler, chiller, and auxiliary equipment operation under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure reliable, efficient and cost-effective long-term operation.
The essential functions of the position include:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all plant equipment
Monitors the operation of major plant equipment and systems (Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, and auxiliary equipment) that support delivery of Hot Water, Chilled Water
Take appropriate actions to ensure safety and delivery of the hot and chilled water are within prescribed bands, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Work to support the overall plant operation
Operate plant control/HMI devices as appropriate
Work a rotating shift that includes 12-hour shifts on both days and nights, with some periods of being the only one on shift
Provide on-call after hours support
Communicate with supervisors/management as to job progress and issues of assigned work
Responsible for safe work practices and implementation of operational excellence
Participate in spill equipment deployment and emergency response
Maintain plant operating records and logs
Obtain measurements and readings, and compare with industry/manufacturer standards
Implement corrective actions within established procedures
Identify and correct problems
Report problems requiring further action to Management
Perform routine equipment and safety checks and inspections
Perform minor preventative maintenance activities within capabilities, as assigned
Perform Water Chemistry Analysis and assist in maintaining water chemistry, as appropriate
Completes all Company and Regulatory training including computer-based training
Conduct Job Safety Analysis as required
Train other plant personnel, as appropriate, and cross train with others to ensure maximum plant readiness
Enforce all safety requirements including, but not limited to:
Issues work permits in compliance with safe work practices and ensures contractor safety
Perform random security inspections and various security checks around the plants
Perform Lockout/Tagout of all facility equipment
Work in confined spaces and perform confined space entry
Wear a Fall Protection when conditions require
Operate a man lift or scissor lift and forklift safely
Use appropriate PPE at all times
Above all work safely and comply with all OSHA regulations
Maintain a clean and orderly work area (requiring cleaning of non-office areas and maintaining the cleanliness of the Control Rooms and plants)
Orders/purchases materials and supplies as required
Maintain preventative and repair work records and logs in the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (including processing inventory transactions for work orders via the CMMS)
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management
Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
Your background includes:
High School Diploma or GED required
One to three (1-3) years related experience and knowledge of Boiler and Chillers
Must obtain NIULPE Class IV power engineering certification within first eighteen months of employment
A bonus to have:
Associate's degree (AA or AS) or technical degree
Six to eight (6-8) years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
