
Front Office Coordinator - Physician Practice

Job Summary
The Front Office Coordinator maintains operational knowledge of the physician practice and ensures office workflow related to scheduling, customer service, fielding and, routing communications, and providing appropriate triage and accurate disposition of patients presenting in crisis.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain and coordinate provider schedules including fielding patient and referral telephone calls and messages.
Maintain office protocols for timeliness of patient care, e.g., call backs, check in, rooming, referral set up, information sharing, etc.
Demonstrate skills need to operate specific equipment. Generate, collect, enter, analyze and use data in the performance of job responsibilities.
Greet and register patients presenting for treatment; Provides a professional and positive experience for patients. Answer questions and or field any necessary questions. Required to be attentive.
Perform quality assurance functions and procedures necessary to meet and maintain regulatory requirements to include maintaining patient medical records and clerical duties.
Communicate data collected to the appropriate provider.
Take patient referrals, gather patient insurance and demographic information and route to the appropriate scheduling and referral resources. Take confidential patient report of initiating presenting problem.
Provide support and coordinate with healthcare team to ensure a smooth operation for the office.
Maintain medical and clerical supply inventory.
Demonstrate knowledge of team dynamics and contribute to team building.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements
Minimum: One (1) year physician office experience.
Preferred: Two (2) or more years physician office experience.
License/Certification Requirements
Minimum: None
