Varbi Recruit, Brockport, NY, United States

Doctoral student position in Skeletal biology and Immunology
To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

Doctoral Student Project and Duties
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the group of Associate Professor Sara Windahl at the pathology division. The Windahl Bone Biology Group aims to understand the molecular mechanisms that control bone strength, length, and the immune system. In addition to the main supervisor, the student will have two co‑supervisors: Associate Professor Dhifaf Sarhan (LabMed) and Dr. Phillip Newton (KBH).

The PhD student will investigate the mechanisms regulating longitudinal growth and the immune system, and the spatial interactions between the immune‑ and stem cell niches in bone. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of laboratory work in the project, drive the project forward with supervisor support, participate in group meetings, departmental seminars, international meetings, supervise other students and researchers, and contribute to common lab routines. The candidate will also fulfil the course requirements of the PhD program as outlined in the relevant rules and documentation on the ki.se website.
