Job Description
Northeast Natural Energy, a growing natural gas exploration and production company, is seeking a Drilling Engineer for its Morgantown, WV office. This position will work with the Director of Drilling and Completions to plan, develop and supervise drilling operations for Northeast Natural Energy’s Marcellus Shale Assets in West Virginia.

Responsibilities

Report to the Director of Drilling and Completions.

Direct the drilling program for pad development of Northeast Natural Energy’s Marcellus Shale Assets in West Virginia.

Manage Plug and Abandonment (P&A) operations.

Maintain and communicate the drilling rig schedule, including dates for pad construction, drilling rig, frac, drill out, and well turn in line dates.

Work with the Director to negotiate rig contracts, conduct bidding processes, and the selection of vendors.

Develop drilling well designs and procedures for vertical (top hole) and directional (horizontal) sections.

Work with other departments (e.g., land operations, regulatory, construction, water, safety, completions & production/facilities)

Provide drilling information needed for the permitting process.

Develops cost estimates and conducts post operations review of actuals vs. AFE.

Execute drilling plans in a safe and cost-efficient manner.

Work with Drilling Consultants to safely oversee drilling operations.

Responsible for pad special considerations of anti-collision and sim‑op work.

Coordinates installation of cellars and conductors.

Assist in conducting field tours.

Work on joint industry and new technology development projects.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or equivalent

A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in unconventional natural gas drilling

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong work ethic and ability to work across disciplines

Knowledge of field drilling operations

Familiar with regulatory reporting

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard software platforms.

Must be reliable and able to work in all weather conditions and able to lift 40 pounds.

Candidate must be able to meet and maintain a clean driving record and pass a drug screening and background check.
