Occupational Therapist Assistant PRN
Implements treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist; and through consideration of practice standards, recommended techniques, insurance guidelines, and patient needs. Uses appropriate therapy procedures, documents data, and follows individualized care plans set by the occupational therapist. Provides patient and family education, including home exercise programs for treatment carryover into the discharge setting. Supports consumer marketing and public awareness through participation in community events, educational lectures, and other extensions of clinical expertise to the community. Conducts age-appropriate assessments and interventions, completing annual age-specific competencies relevant to the scope of care. Acts as a clinical instructor and provides mentorship to students and new staff, fostering a supportive and educational environment. Engages in ongoing review of occupational therapy and rehab policies and procedures, making recommendations for updates as needed. Documents interventions and patient progress accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology in line with standards of practice, insurance guidelines, and department/hospital policies and procedures. Maintains productivity standards as defined by the department and adjusts work hours to meet the needs of the patients as required. Ensures patient safety and adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including infection control, equipment training, and safety programs. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and educational events to maintain clinical competencies and adhere to professional and evidence-based practices. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic forms.
Entry level knowledge and application of principles of medical occupational therapy for therapeutic diagnostics and treatment.
