Job Description: Experienced mechanical inspector: Inspects complex machine parts and assemblies using hand tools and measuring instruments. Interprets 2-D drawing and is able to measure parts using CMM or Measuring instruments with the use of 3-D Model. Essential Functions:
Support day-to-day inspection duties as assigned.
Potentially take on additional assignments with increased scope and difficulty to support sustaining production and/or new development projects.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience with regards to performing inspection of product for workmanship, dimensions and overall conformance to applicable dwgs/specs.
Basic ability in reading blueprints and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
Familiar with processing and handling of nonconforming material.
Familiar with first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
Familiar with AS9100/ISO9001 or other quality management systems.
Familiarity with industry specs/standards as it relates to materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., ASTM, ASE, MIL specs, etc.) is a plus.
Knowledge of lean/six sigma and other industry best practices is a plus.
Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and lift 35 lbs.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Experience interfacing with customers and facilitating source inspections is a plus.
Experience in performing process audits, compiling reports and recommending remedial actions is a plus.
Familiarity with paint, fiberglass, composite and machining processes is a plus.
Desire to learn how to perform heavy mechanical inspection which encompasses the use of coordinate measurement equipment (CMM, Faro arm, etc.), performing tooling/gauging verification, and using other complex measurement techniques and methods.
Working knowledge of at the intermediate level of basic shop math, basic algebra, geometry and trig.
Basic statistics, SPC knowledge is required. (such as: control charts objectives, variable charts, attribute charts control limits, spec limits, process capability)
Must possess the knowledge and capability of applying those techniques required to determine the acceptability of complex assemblies.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, operations sheets, sketches and procedures. GD&T interpretation.
Must be familiar with standards and shop practices.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
