Gage Hospitality Group is currently seeking a passionate Pastry Assistant to join The Gage located on Michigan Avenue, steps away from Millennium Park. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the restaurant's high productivity, quality, and customer service standards are maintained.
What You'll Do
Crush the Line: Execute high-volume service with quick, clean, and sophisticated plating.
Recipe Mastery: Read and execute complex recipes with technical accuracy and efficiency.
Safety First: Maintain expert-level knowledge of food allergens and dietary restrictions to ensure guest safety.
Station Ownership: Keep a meticulous, self-sufficient station, maintain communication with chefs, managing your own prep and inventory without hand-holding.
Proven Track Record: Solid experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant environment.
Report directly to the Pastry Sous Chef
Display a basic knowledge of pastry techniques and knife skills
Assist in the production of high quality breads, cakes, cookies and other pastry products
Produce all components for plated desserts, including ice creams and sorbets
Be able to check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards are met
Responsible for completing all opening, mid-shift and closing procedures in a timely manner
Able to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
Able to have full time availability
