Operator - 1st Shift (Heavy Duty)
The Operator I will operate machines such as filling equipment, cappers, labelers, sealers, and other related equipment to meet customer order driven production schedule. To perform duties in operating, repairing, overhauling mechanical equipment. Supervise the operation of machines and equipment. This operation is to be performed keeping safety as a primary objective and following established GMP, Safety, Regulatory and Stratas Foods procedures and policies.
Responsibilities:
Must follow GMP's and safety guidelines and wear PPE and adhere to all safety rules
Determining machine adjustments based on product specifications and material requirements
Setting stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template
Observing machine operation and detecting product defects and/or machine malfunctions
Actively identifies mechanical issues which have the potential for machine breakdown and/or downtime for reporting to supervisor and reducing downtime
Properly recording reasons for down time in CDC system
Stopping and resetting equipment when malfunctions occur, clearing machine jams, and reporting impairments to the Production Supervisor
Performing periodic product sample weights to ensure proper fill weight and ensuring quality and conformity of filled products against the customers standards
Replacing and replenishing containers of product to be filled and packaging supplies such as: film, laminate, and mount rolls on spindles
Responsible for completing documentation required for product quality assurance
Responsible for performing change overs and minor machine maintenance and adjustments as required, and effectively communicating with maintenance personnel when maintenance requirements are more considerable
Provide assistance to mechanics during preventative maintenance and machine service or repairs following proper Lockout/Tag out procedures
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Experience operating in a fast paced, ready to eat food facility a plus
Ability to be self-guided and motivated to operate independently
Strong multi-tasking skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Additional Information:
Physical: This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights
Sensory: Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential task.
