Evening Custodian

Location: Moffat County School District RE-1 All campuses (Pre-K12) Department: Facilities / Custodial Services Reports To: Lead Custodian / Director of Facilities Position Summary: The Evening Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors during school hours. This role plays a critical part in supporting school operations by proactively addressing cleaning needs, responding to immediate issues, and ensuring high standards of sanitation and safety are upheld throughout the day. Salary: $18.14-$28.11. Placement on the compensation schedule is dependent upon experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Perform continuous cleaning and sanitizing of high-traffic areas - Monitor and maintain cleanliness and disinfection of all restrooms - Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and emergency cleaning situations - Perform light maintenance tasks - Support school staff with room setups for meetings and events - Monitor building security and report concerns - Maintain custodial closets and equipment - Replenish supplies - Assist with exterior duties as needed - Follow safety procedures for cleaning chemicals - Report maintenance issues or hazards Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment - Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks - Strong attention to detail - Good communication skills - Ability to respond to unexpected situations - Understanding of safety guidelines Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent preferred - Custodial experience preferred but not required - Ability to pass background checks Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds - Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks Work Environment: - Active school environment - Exposure to cleaning chemicals Compensation and Benefits: - Hourly wage based on district pay scale - Benefits per district policy: PERA retirement, health insurance, paid time off, short and long term disability, other optional benefit elections.
