Reception Specialist - ELECTON COMMISSIONER
Primary assignment includes staffing the public reception counter and serving as the first point of contact for voters and visitors. Assists candidates and voters. When not working directly with the public, this position verifies, maintains and updates election related databases and records through data analysis, processing and entry. This position is required to work extended hours during elections. Provide consistent and prompt customer service: greet every voter, candidate, and guest in a courteous and professional manner maintains secure control of public access to restricted office areas provide information regarding voter registration and voting options facilitate candidate filing, report filing, data requests, and other common election office services accept payments for candidate filings or data requests answer phones, respond to emails, and provide information and services in person process and sort incoming mail may be required to drive to support office and election functions accurately maintain the voter registration list: maintain voter registration entry and verification may process agency submitted registration files cross-check and proof team entries prepare voter correspondence process USPS return mail and national change of address lists participate in annexation and redistricting projects as needed maintain advanced voting list process, review, and fulfill advance by mail ballot requests make and document voter outreach calls for advance voting issues create and maintain advance voting reports and records assist in preparing provisional ballot documentation
Minimum qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience in an office environment with a substantial amount of data entry/processing. One year of experience in a public facing or customer service role (either in person or by phone). Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver's license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must be free of federal or state felony conviction as well as any misdemeanors relating to breach of trust, fraud, embezzlement, or dishonesty in carrying out a responsibility involving public trust. Ability to obtain a notary public. Cyber security training within the first 30 days of employment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Preferred qualifications: associate's degree in business or a related field. Four years of experience in an office environment with a substantial amount of data entry/processing. Two years of experience in a public facing or customer service role (in person or by phone). Kansas Secretary of State election certification.
