What does it mean to be a part of the Order Selection team?

In this fast-paced role, you are the boots on the ground and responsible for accurately and efficiently pulling customer orders within the warehouse. This role requires strategic thinking and attention to detail while palletizing orders and ensuring they are placed in the correct assigned locations. You will operate motorized equipment including Electric Pallet Jacks while ensuring that you safely and accurately move product within the warehouse. Purpose:

Responsible for having a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, pick locations, pallet building, productivity measures, and safety procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Operate a ride‑on electric pallet jack to safely and efficiently select product and build stable, properly cubed pallets in pick sequence.

Accurately locate pick slots and select correct items and quantities, verifying UPCs or item descriptions.

Label, shrink‑wrap, and stage pallets with correct truck, stop, and load information in designated bays.

Inspect pallet jack and work area for safety issues; report equipment problems, mis‑located product, hazards, or policy violations immediately.

Record required productivity and order information and respond to first and last call for out‑of‑stocks as needed.

Maintain clean aisles and work areas, park and recharge equipment properly, and follow all safety, HACCP, and SQF procedures.

Performance Expectations:

Selectors are measured on performance, accuracy, safety, and quality.

Meeting company standards is required; exceeding performance standards is recognized and rewarded.

Teamwork, communication, and reliability are essential to daily success.

Experience Required:

Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required

Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Understanding of Safety guidelines

Skills/ Abilities:

This is a fast‑paced, physically demanding role requiring frequent lifting (up to 75 lbs), standing, walking, bending, and twisting throughout the shift.

Work is performed in temperature‑controlled environments ranging from below zero in perishable areas to warm conditions in dry grocery.

Repetitive hand and arm motions, overhead work, equipment operation, and strong balance and coordination are required to safely perform the job.

Job Summary
Work in a Sysco warehouse and be a critical member of the foodservice supply chain. Warehouse Selectors pick orders for delivery to foodservice venues in the local community.

Active, physical role that includes operating an electric pallet jack, and/or forklift

Organizing and palletizing product to build customer orders

Other duties as assigned.

Safe working environment, working in areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather conditions and type of product being selected (i.e., non-refrigerated, refrigerated, and frozen.)

Minimum Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

0 – 1 Year relevant work experience.

Frequently lift product that weighs 10lb - 75lbs and up to 100lbs.

Frequently reach up to 72 inches.

Constantly bend and twist while operating an electric pallet jack or forklift, retrieving products from lower shelf areas.

Work in very extreme temperatures (cooler and/or freezer).

Work on your feet for 10 – 12 hours daily.

Preferred Requirements

1 year experience operating an electric pallet jack or forklift.

1 year of warehouse, military, or physically active job experience.

1 year Selection Experience.

2 years consistent work history preferred.

Job Overview:

Become part of the UNFI team as a Warehouse Order Selector. In this fast-paced job associates will be responsible for safely, accurately and efficiently pulling wholesale grocery orders in our warehouse. Associates will also palletize the orders, shrink wrap the pallets and place them in the assigned locations. Shifts are based on business needs during bid selection and may vary. Full availability is required.

What schedules are we hiring for?

Full-time associates must have open availability. Overtime is required and fluctuates seasonally. We are currently offering a 10am schedule which will be a 4 day work week with 3 days off.

Orientation and training will be held in the mornings for the first 3 weeks. It is required that you attend all of orientation and training.

Here is some of what you will be doing:

• Selects various grocery, perishable, frozen or repack products from warehouse stock using electric pallet jacket

• Reports adjustments to inventory counts, spoilage or damage to stock, location changes, and out of stocks

• Transports product throughout warehouse via electric pallet jack

• Responsibilities include maintaining order selection performance standards of speed and accuracy with minimum damage and maximum safety

• Assists other department personnel in the performance of work activities when peak workloads require or during absences of division personnel

What we are looking for:

• Preferred: have experience in a large warehouse/distribution company or grocery experience within the last 3 years

• Preferred: have experience with an Electric Pallet Jack

• Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds continuously as well as pick with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

• Must be able to work in a range of temperatures from -10 to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a drug screen

• Must be able to read, write and speak English

• Associates working in the warehouse will potentially be exposed to major food allergens to include: milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame
