Senior Accountant Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations while supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience, a proactive mindset, and a desire to grow within the organization.

Senior Accountant Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements


• Manage general ledger activity, including reconciliations and journal entries


• Oversee grant accounting and ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements


• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis


• Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors


• Improve and streamline accounting processes and internal controls


• Mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to team development

Qualifications for this Senior Accountant Position

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)


• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization


• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards


• Experience with grant tracking and fund accounting


• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel


• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
