Description
The Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors for the summer camp programs. The role of the Camp Counselor is crucial in creating a fun and safe environment for campers while ensuring their well-being. Ideal candidates will be passionate about working with children, fostering teamwork, and creating memorable summer experiences.
Examples of Duties
Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during activities, games, and crafts.
Assist in planning and organizing age-appropriate activities.
Manage camper behavior and foster a positive, inclusive environment.
Communicate with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
Follow and enforce safety protocols, handling emergencies effectively.
Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to maintain a supportive team atmosphere.
Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating responsibility, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic.
Complete daily reports, maintain accurate attendance records, and submit necessary paperwork.
Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years old.
Previous experience with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Enthusiastic, responsible, and committed to providing a positive camp experience.
Schedule: The camp season runs from June 8th - August 14th. Mandatory Staff Training will be held in May, dates TBD.
