Air Distribution Technologies, Sanford, NC, United States
Fabrication Production Scheduler
Trion IAQ - A Business of Air Distribution Technologies, Inc.
Position Summary
Trion IAQ, a business of Air Distribution Technologies, Inc., is seeking a Fabrication Production Scheduler (Planner II) for our Sanford, NC facility. Founded in 1947, Trion specializes in high-performance, sustainable indoor air quality solutions-including air cleaners, electronic air filters, humidifiers, and industrial air scrubbers-serving commercial spaces, industrial plants, and healthcare environments. This role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing daily and weekly production schedules for the fabrication area. The Scheduler partners closely with Fabrication Supervision, Materials, Engineering, and Quality to balance capacity, materials, and priorities in order to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
What You'll Do
Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for fabrication operations (press brake, laser/turret punch, saw, forming, welding, and staging).
Sequence work orders to optimize flow, minimize changeovers, and align labor and machine capacity with demand.
Release and manage shop orders, travelers/routers, and dispatch lists to ensure clear priorities on the shop floor.
Partner with Fabrication Supervisors to adjust schedules based on labor availability, equipment uptime, WIP levels, and shifting customer priorities.
Coordinate with Materials and Purchasing to ensure material availability and resolve shortages, substitutions, or expedites.
Monitor WIP, backlog, and schedule adherence; identify risks to on-time delivery and drive mitigation plans.
Review engineering drawings, routings, and BOMs for accuracy and completeness prior to scheduling and release.
Collaborate with Quality on MRB parts, rework, and disposition to minimize schedule disruption and downstream impact.
Work with Engineering and Maintenance to account for planned downtime, preventive maintenance, and new process introductions.
Maintain accurate master data in ERP (routings, lead times, lot sizes, work centers) and recommend improvements based on actual performance.
Analyze production and delivery metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Associate's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business preferred.
3-5+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment (metal fabrication preferred).
Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, capacities, and constraints.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, routings, and bills of material.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across shop floor and functional teams.
Preferred
Experience in HVAC, indoor air quality, or made-to-order manufacturing environments.
Lean or continuous improvement exposure (flow, WIP control, capacity balancing, standard work).
Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume production with frequent engineering changes.
APICS/ASCM CPIM coursework or certification exposure.
Work Environment
This position is based primarily in a manufacturing plant and office environment, with regular time spent on the production floor. Exposure to sheet metal fabrication equipment, moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels is expected. The role requires close interaction with production teams and adherence to PPE requirements while on the shop floor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
