How you'll contribute

Registered Nurse (RN) - Trauma Coordinator

who excels in this role:
Developing, Implementing and Monitoring the Trauma Program in all administrative and clinical aspects.
Assists Trauma Medical Director in setting quality standards; acts on their behalf when required.
Coordinates injury prevention programs within the facility and the community and participates in planning/implementation of programs in conjunction with Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Develops Trauma Center Performance Plan.
Analyzes key data to assess important aspects of systems operations for improvement and resource management.
Maintains working relationships with other medical facilities which receive or send patient transfers to/from Conemaugh Nason Medical Center.
Reports the progress work of the program to the Emergency Department Director and Chief Nursing Officer.
Supervises the Trauma Registry/Registrars.
Oversees consultant and liaison activities.
Validates which educational forums are acceptable for fulfilling continuing education for staff.
Conducts Performance Improvement Monitoring of PTSF metrics, develops action plans, and dashboards.
Will act as a Prehospital Coordinator overseeing and monitoring any contacts with Emergency Medical Service companies, including overseeing the outreach activities to ensure adequate staffing, financial, quality improvement, and general organization of these efforts as well as acting as a liaison between the hospital and prehospital entities.

What we're looking for
Applicants should be graduates of an RN program and hold a current nurse's license in the state of Pennsylvania or a current multistate license (MSL) from compact member states/territories. Additional requirements include:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required (or obtained within 3 years of hire)
MSN is preferred
Associate's degree is required; Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and/or Health Care Administration preferred
CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS required
3-5 years clinical experience as an RN in Trauma/Emergency Room preferred
Prior management experience preferred
Certification in an Emergency Nurses Associations Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced TraumaCare for Nurses (ATCN) or other recognized Advanced Trauma Course preferred (or obtained within 2 years ofhire).
Participation in the STN-TOPIC Course within one year of hire.
Maintain at least 8 hours of continuing trauma education annually (minimum of 50% of the required - educational hours must be external).
