HR Generalist (Standalone / Sole HR Practitioner)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly self-sufficient and proactive HR Generalist to serve as the sole HR professional within our organization. This role is responsible for managing the full spectrum of human resources functions, with a strong emphasis on full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition. The ideal candidate is hands-on, resourceful, and experienced in using Paylocity to support HR operations, payroll, and reporting.

  

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting (Primary Focus)

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates 
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies 
  • Create and post job descriptions across multiple platforms using Paylocity and JobTarget
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines for current and future hiring needs 
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process 
  • Track recruiting metrics and optimize hiring processes 

HR Operations & Administration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters 
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations 
  • Administer HR policies, procedures, and programs 
  • Manage onboarding and outboarding processes 
  • Handle employee relations issues with professionalism and confidentiality 

Payroll, HRIS & Paylocity Management

  • Administer payroll and benefits using Paylocity and Employee Navigator
  • Maintain and optimize HRIS data, reporting, and workflows within Paylocity 
  • Generate reports and provide insights on workforce metrics 
  • Troubleshoot system issues and act as internal Paylocity expert 

Compliance & Policy Management

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations 
  • Update and maintain employee handbook and HR policies 
  • Support audits and ensure proper documentation 

Additional HR Functions

  • Support performance management processes 
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives as needed 
  • Assist leadership with organizational planning and HR strategy 


  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a standalone or small-company environment 
  • Strong experience in full-cycle recruiting 
  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills 

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building HR processes from the ground up 
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) 
  • Experience in a fast-paced or growing company 


Compensation details: 56000-60000 Yearly Salary
