Overview
The Inventory Cycle Counter plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of warehouse operations by leading inventory cycle counts and monitoring material movements. Acting as the site’s "Purveyor of Inventory," this individual ensures precise tracking and accountability of all items, driving a culture of accuracy and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures inventory accuracy by verifying warehouse locations and material balances
Conducts physical counts and compares results to system records to maintain alignment
Investigates inventory discrepancies through root cause analysis and drives timely resolutions
Escalates discrepancies exceeding quantity and value thresholds to the supervisor for review
Identifies and reports damaged products or hazardous conditions within the warehouse to leadership
Safely and effectively operates all power equipment, including but not limited to Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), electric/manual pallet jacks, and scissor lifts, supporting Whisker’s Zero-Incident Safety Culture
Maintains a strong commitment to safety practices at all times while on Whisker property
Actively participates in daily and weekly department meetings to drive continuous improvement
Supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency
Collaborates closely with warehouse, inventory, and operations teams to ensure smooth material flow and system integrity
Utilizes warehouse management systems (WMS) and reporting tools to record counts and discrepancies accurately
Adheres to company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance requirements related to inventory and safety
Assists in preparing inventory reports and cycle count metrics for leadership review
Performs additional duties and special assignments as needed to support warehouse operations
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred
1–2 years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, or a related field
Working knowledge of ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); SAP experience preferred
Strong basic data entry skills with attention to detail and system accuracy
Ability and willingness to travel to offsite storage locations as needed
Certification to operate powered equipment, including but not limited to Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), electric/manual pallet jacks, and scissor lifts (certification available on-site through Whisker)
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within small teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
High degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to inspire a proactive, results-driven approach in others
Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions and interruptions
Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information
Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and cross-functional partners
Comfortable working in an office environment that includes pets (cats and dogs)
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds safely and without assistance
Ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, reaching, and climbing as needed
Not Required but Nice to Have
SAP or other type of ERP experience
Working experience in a manufacturing environment
Google Suite including Google Docs, Sheets and Slides experience
