The
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
will provide direct patient care in a correctional setting, including administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, assisting with treatments, and documenting care. This role will collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care while adhering to facility policies, state regulations, and infection control standards. The
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
will also support patient education and contribute to a safe and efficient healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care including assessments, monitoring vital signs, and administering prescribed treatments and medications as directed by the physician.
Conduct initial medical screenings upon entry and provide ongoing care throughout the patient’s stay.
Assist with sick call assessments, respond to health complaints, and provide appropriate care or referrals.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide first aid and emergency care as necessary.
Monitor and document patient progress; make recommendations to the physician for treatment modifications when necessary.
Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and healthcare standards.
Ensure all medical treatments and interventions comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Administer medications, document reactions, and ensure proper handling and storage of medications.
Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, and correctional staff to coordinate patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
Educate patients and facility staff on basic health and wellness topics.
Ensure the medical unit is stocked, organized, and clean; report equipment or facility issues as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What we Ask of YOU
Current, valid state licensure, certificate, and/or credentials to practice (e.g., LPN/LVN).
High School diploma or GED required.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or related field preferred but not required.
1-3 years of healthcare experience; correctional healthcare or regulated environments preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage.
Ability to manage time, follow protocols, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Active CPR/BLS certification required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guidelines).
