The Pharmacy Material Coordinator - Narcotic Inventory role at Cleveland Clinic offers a unique opportunity to work independently across multiple care settings while directly impacting patient safety through accurate controlled substance management. This role provides broad visibility across inpatient, emergency department, and hospice operations, with exposure to inventory management, automation systems, and purchasing functions. Responsibilities include managing and fulfilling medication orders with a focus on controlled substances, refilling and maintaining Pyxis and other automated dispensing systems, ensuring medication accuracy, availability, and regulatory compliance, prepackaging medications for distribution, supporting narcotic inventory tracking and monitoring, assisting with purchasing for offsite locations, and proactively identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies or risks.

A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm at Lodi Hospital. This caregiver will rotate every fifth weekend at Akron General Hospital.

Weekend rotation shift is flexible.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Ensure continuous supplies are maintained with little or no interruption.

Implement, manage and maintain inventory systems to order, control, expedite, and inventory supplies to enhance the fiscal management of the department.

Monitor reports and available publications for insight into shortages and determine appropriate substitute items.

Provide information to technicians while carrying out inventory control function.

Maintain the proper and appropriate professional and ethical relationship with vendor representatives and conduct business according to established principles and guidelines.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Associate's Degree or High School Diploma/GED and three years of experience in a similar role

Must have work history of using a computer

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within six months of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Prior inpatient experience

Physical Requirements:

'Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

May need to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and, in some locations, off-site

Must have own transportation due to travel to multiple sites.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
