Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician II performs advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and equipment installation in a fast‑paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role supports production reliability by leading complex maintenance initiatives, performing hands‑on technical work, and providing guidance to lower‑level technicians. The position operates with limited supervision, requiring strong judgment, initiative, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform advanced mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot issues and support production operators in restoring equipment to optimal operation.
Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance following established schedules.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, or emergencies to maintain production continuity.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and assist in identifying recurring issues and recommended solutions.
Installations, Modifications & Technical Work
Install new or upgraded mechanical and electrical equipment following engineering specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
Assist in improving productivity and safety through machine modifications, upgrades, and process improvements.
Complete maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural repairs, and machine calibration.
Prepare and interpret diagrams, schematics, drawings, charts, and calculations to define reliability problems and propose solutions.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, ADA, and company‑specific safety protocols.
Evaluate workspace conditions and ensure safe work practices on the production floor.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance workspace in compliance with 5S standards.
Inventory, Parts & Documentation
Perform inventory control for maintenance tools, parts, and supplies.
Order materials, replacement parts, and equipment as needed.
Support continuous improvement of the Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs, including refining processes and documentation.
Team Support & Leadership
Provide technical support and guidance to Maintenance Technician I and entry‑level Maintenance Technicians as needed.
Collaborate effectively with team members, production staff, and management to ensure equipment reliability and process efficiency.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience & Technical Skills
Four (4) or more years of related industrial maintenance experience, or equivalent education/training.
Strong mechanical and electrical experience supporting continuous production environments.
Knowledge and hands‑on experience with:
Industrial electrical wiring
Mechanical/electrical devices and circuits
Robotics and automated systems
PLCs and computer‑controlled equipment
Hydraulics and pneumatics
Welding experience preferred.
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment.
Comfortable using computers for documentation, troubleshooting software, and report generation.
Competencies
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, and schematics.
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
Ability to maneuver in tight spaces and react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
Must be able to hear and differentiate sounds; judge distances; and maintain steady arm/hand movement.
Work includes exposure to hot/cold environments, dust, and high noise levels.
