We are seeking an experienced Survey Manager / Professional Land Surveyor to plan, organize, and direct surveying operations and personnel.
This role oversees surveyors and technicians performing boundary, topographic, construction, utility, and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) surveys.
The successful candidate will ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, quality control, and safe work practices while supporting client relationships and business development initiatives.
Immigration sponsorship or work authorization support (including H-1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this role, except for candidates eligible under the TN visa classification.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and review field data, perform survey calculations, and prepare legal descriptions.
Manage multiple field crews and oversee day-to-day surveying operations while ensuring quality assurance and quality control across all project deliverables.
Prepare and monitor project budgets, oversee billing, and maintain direct client relationships.
Support business development activities within the surveying discipline and represent the company in meetings with clients and prospective clients.
Provide leadership and ongoing performance management, including setting expectations, defining goals, providing feedback, conducting one-on-one meetings, and coaching team members to support professional growth.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of 10 years of professional surveying experience is required, along with an active Tennessee Professional Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) license.
Candidates must have a general understanding of survey plan preparation using Inroads, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
A working knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying regulations is required.
Preferred qualifications: Experience with subsurface utility engineering (SUE), utility designating, and locating is preferred.
Familiarity with aerial mapping, LiDAR scanning, and small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) is a plus.
Working Conditions This position is primarily office-based, with approximately 95% of work performed in a general office environment.
The role is largely sedentary but may require occasional standing and walking.
Periodic field work is required and may involve working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, or humid environments.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
