Overview

RN Infection Preventionist role at Lee Health. Location: Fort Myers, FL. Department: Infection Control. Work Type: Full Time. Shift: Shift 1. Salary: $27.45 - $37.06 per hour.
Responsibilities

Provide leadership for the hospital-wide Infection Prevention Program, including surveillance, prevention, and control of healthcare-associated infections under the direction of the Manager Epidemiology-Infection Prevention.
Present Infection-related information and statistics at Campus Leadership Morning Huddle; collaborate with Campus dyad leadership on infection-related items.
Lead and participate in Infection Prevention activities with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care and outcomes.
Educate staff and serve as a resource for patients and families on Infection Prevention issues.
Analyze surveillance findings, research evidence-based interventional strategies, and address areas needing improvement.
Co-lead Clinical Consensus workgroups with physician leads and develop educational programs to change caregiver practices based on surveillance findings.
Independently handle after-hours call for Lee Health concerning Epidemiology/Infection Prevention.
Serve on select hospital and system committees/task forces; contribute to policy development and practice improvement.
Collaborate with the Infection Prevention Medical Director on projects and patient safety work plans; provide input into the annual Infection Prevention Plan.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN, or a BS/MS in a related health care field such as Microbiology, Medical Technology, Epidemiology/Public Health.
Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years in staff nursing or related field; knowledge of patient care practices and/or adult education principles. RN experience in critical care is preferred.
Certifications:

Will attend a recognized Infection Prevention/Hospital Epidemiology training course (CDC/APIC). Must obtain and maintain Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within three (3) years of hire.
License:

RN licensure by the Florida State Board of Nursing, or applicable professional license/certification.
Other:

Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, customer service, and data analysis skills. Will attend State/Regional/National Infection Prevention conferences as resources permit. Earns a minimum of 8 CEUs during initial orientation and annually thereafter; CEUs may come from IP-related activities or other required licenses/certifications.
Location & Schedule

Location: Lee Health – 2776 Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33901. Willingness to work across Lee Health campuses in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, as needed.
