Overview

Safety First Group is recruiting for an

HVAC Maintenance Technician

to support

industrial HVAC preventive maintenance and repairs

in Freeport, Texas.
What you will be doing

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial HVAC systems
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions
Inspect, operate, and test equipment to identify malfunctions
Repair or replace defective equipment and parts using hand and power tools
Record maintenance and repair work performed
Calibrate thermostats and ensure appropriate temperatures are maintained
Create and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures, including changing filters and cleaning condensers and coils
Complete work orders as needed
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
Communicate equipment issues to operations supervision and work in line with company safety and HR procedures
What we are looking for

High school diploma or GED required
Certificate of completion from an HVAC technical school
Minimum 5 years experience maintaining industrial HVAC systems in a process or manufacturing environment
Ability to understand process flow diagrams and P and IDs
Proficient in Excel and Word
Able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively
Able to successfully complete required training such as OSHA, LOTO, DOT, HAZMAT, NCCER, RCRA, site specific training, and other required certifications for the role
Work environment and schedule

Plant environment with outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and precipitation. Work may be performed in tight or confined spaces with required PPE. Regular exposure to dust, noise, odors, chemicals, and fumes. Rotating shift work is required. Overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required, and call out opportunities may occur.
Physical requirements and screening

Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 50 pounds, and stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel, and climb stairs or ladders for an entire shift. Must be able to pass respirator fit testing, a criminal background check, and a drug test.
