Overview

The Operator position includes efficiently and effectively operating dredging equipment while maintaining equipment by performing routine maintenance and basic mechanic work when required.
Responsibilities

Models the Dredge America values: Committed to do the right thing with a can-do-attitude.
Coordinate with Deckhand, Laborers and Interns to ensure the dredge is clean and well maintained and complete all daily tasks.
Ability to communicate with all DA team members and superiors.
Perform basic manual labor tasks.
Operate land-based support equipment such as forklift, skid-steer, excavator, etc.
Operate all work boats, anchor scows, trash pumps and booster pumps.
Utilize a proactive approach to completing job specific tasks.
Fill out Operator shift reports, grade checks and spreadsheets.
Participate in safety meetings.
Utilize basic mechanical knowledge to inspect equipment, analyze, troubleshoot and plan sequence of repair operations.
Ability to cut up, load and fuse pipe.
Communicate with Superintendent on supplies needed and any equipment issues.
Responsible for radio communications on the water.
Operate all dredges in the fleet efficiently and effectively.
General HYPACK knowledge such as startup and shut down procedures.
Meet and exceed productions goals for the project.
Education/Experience

Minimum of 1 year experience.
Technical training or graduation from a technical school is a plus.
Training in heavy and marine equipment is a plus.
Skills

Basic computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook.
Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of working on and around heavy equipment.
Ability to work effectively and establish good working relationships with others.
Ability to engage in heavy manual labor for extended periods, in all types of weather, and under various working conditions. Able to lift 50 pounds.
Basic computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook.
Other

100% travel is required.
12-hour days/7 days a week/3 week on 1 week off rotation schedule. This may include overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Able to live with crew members in project lodging, i.e. hotels, rental homes, rental apartments, etc.
Valid driver\'s license.
Clear driving record.
Reliable source of transportation.
Able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Must be 18 years or older.
Authorized to work in the US.
Ability to travel throughout the United States.
Comfortable around water.
