Master Electrician Medium Voltage
We are seeking a highly skilled Master Electrician with strong project management experience to support operations within a large, owner-occupied commercial/industrial facility. This role requires a self-motivated professional capable of managing complex electrical systems, leading projects, and ensuring operational reliability across medium and low voltage infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in medium voltage systems, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
Lead and coordinate all phases of facilities-related projects
Oversee internal teams and external contractors on electrical and infrastructure projects
Support installation of new equipment, system upgrades, and building improvements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery
Maintenance & Operations
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems
Troubleshoot and repair complex medium and low voltage systems independently
Maintain and service:
Medium voltage switchgear (13.2kV)
Double-ended substations (480V)
Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
Static Transfer Switches (STS)
Monitor and inspect building systems using advanced diagnostic tools
Customer Support & Collaboration
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders on project status and work requests
Partner with facilities teams, engineers, and contractors to resolve issues efficiently
Training & Leadership
Provide guidance and mentorship to technicians and other trades
Promote safe electrical practices and ensure compliance with safety standards
Develop work instructions and training documentation
Contract & Budget Support
Contribute technical expertise in the development of RFPs
Assist in project budgeting, cost estimation, and planning
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of relevant electrical experience
Minimum 3 years of operating at a Master Electrician level
Strong experience in commercial or industrial environments
In-depth knowledge of medium voltage (13.2kV) and low voltage systems (480V120V)
Strong understanding of NFPA 70E and electrical safety standards (including arc flash)
Experience leading projects and supervising contractors
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and floor plans
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with project estimating and cost control
A minimum of 3 years industry experience with a Master Electrician level - Kansas City Missouri license preferred
Familiarity with manufacturer equipment manuals and system documentation
Experience creating technical procedures and maintenance documentation
Work Environment & Requirements
Fully onsite role in a commercial/industrial facility
Ability to work on ladders and lifts
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Valid driver's license required
Flexibility to work varying shifts and occasional overtime
Schedule
Standard hours: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
