About the Role
NSC Staffing is hiring experienced
Structural Marine Welders
to support ship repair operations at Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville, FL. If you're a skilled welder with shipyard experience and can certify in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW across all positions, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Perform production welding on Navy, MSC, and ABS-classified vessels in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
Prepare work areas for hot work, including verifying hot work certifications at the job site and adjacent areas.
Prepare surfaces for welding by inspecting joints and cleaning as required.
Inspect welds for defects and confer with supervision before correcting deficiencies.
Communicate with and provide direction to welding helpers and fire watch personnel.
Coordinate explicitly with Fire Watch - no hot work commences until the area is cleared per fire prevention protocol.
Verify Lock-Out/Tag-Out has been properly executed before beginning work.
Document existing conditions and provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) as required.
Keep the work area clean and safe, especially at shift end.
Comply with OSHA standards and BAE best safety practices at all times.
What You Need
Qualifications
Up to 4 years of welding experience in a related (marine/shipyard) field.
Ability to certify in all positions on:
SMAW - Full Penetration weld with permanent backing (ceramic and metal)
FCAW - Full Penetration weld with permanent backing (ceramic and metal)
GMAW - Full Penetration weld with permanent backing (ceramic and metal)
