Aerial Lift Trimmer - Aiken, SC
The Climber is responsible for climbing, pruning, and removing trees.
Essential functions include always following and helping enforce safe practices and rules, climbing, pruning, and removing trees according to the Foreperson's directives, loading and unloading trucks with logs, brush, and debris; lifting and feeding brush into a brush chipper, working from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws, inspecting and ensuring the proper working condition of all assigned tools and equipment, safeguarding employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area by enforcing safe job practices, keeping the work area clean and orderly, and staying in frequent voice communication with co-workers, and performing duties for storm work as needed.
Supervisory responsibilities include having no direct reports.
Experience requirements include prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred; previous climbing experience is preferred. A high school diploma or education equivalent is preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrating a working knowledge of all knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations, climbing and descending trees using rope and safety saddle, administering and implementing emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and all applicable first aid techniques, being familiar with electrical hazards and appropriate operating procedures when in proximity to electrical conductors and aerial rescue techniques in the event of an emergency aloft, working and maneuvering at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather conditions, possessing physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception, and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance, quickly removing yourself from a potential danger area, obtaining and maintaining first-aid certification and CPR, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), and traveling out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
Work authorization requirements include meeting I-9 requirements.
