General Overview: Performs secretarial and direct patient care duties for a designated unit. Maintains the medical record, performs direct patient care for all types of patients.
Essential Responsibilities:
Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection and all other treatments.
Transcribes orders in accordance with policies and procedures subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.
Performs clerical duties related to admission, transfer and discharge, maintenance of patient activities for the records, interdepartmental communications and unit reception.
Demonstrates effective communication (verbal and written) with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members regarding patient care.
Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1 year of patient care and/or administrative experience
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Preferred previous unit secretary experience or graduate of an approved unit secretary program.
Experience as a PCA or EMT.
Working Schedule: Full Time Rotational: Please note that this role is a 36 hours per week with 3 x 12 hours Rotational Shift. You will need to be flexible to work a rotational schedule which includes, evening, overnight, and weekend coverage.
