Description
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the overall cleanliness of Newport Aquarium by completing daily checklists and cleaning tasks
Contribute to overall building maintenance both during operation and after hours
Proactively find ways to better the overall Guest Experience
Engage guests with animal facts, information, and personal connections through interpretation
Daily garbage, recycling, and compost disposal
Deep cleans using specified machines (pressure washer, carper extractor, hard floor scrubber, etc.)
Fulfill House and Grounds duties during after-hours Events
Additional cleaning and maintenance tasks assigned by the House and Grounds Lead and/or Supervisor
Qualifications:
18 years old or older
Previous experience in facilities cleaning desired
Willingness to become Bloodborne Pathogens trained
Knowledge of aquatic life a plus
Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach
Ability to work as a member of a team
Ability to work with little to no supervision while remaining motivated and on task
Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings
Ability to work between 4:00pm and 2:00am required (Second Shift role)
Physical Requirements:
Successful completion of pre-employment background check
In good health and capable of performing strenuous and/or heavy physical labor
No history of allergy related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work
Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop
Ability to work in all weather conditions
No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance and agility of movement which might interfere with ability to work
Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease)
