Building Custodian

The Building Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, management and ordering of supplies, completion of minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that CHN Memorial Campus buildings and grounds are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Participates in the organization's continuous quality improvement efforts.
Essential Functions:
Prioritizes, and manages work assignments from the Senior Director of Administration.
As needed, performs tours of the campus and picking up all loose trash from the grounds and empties receptacles as required
Determines need and places orders for all janitorial supplies and equipment electronically through vendor site
Manages inventory of all janitorial supplies
Conducts weekly inventory of janitorial supplies in all buildings to include the residential cottages and provides supplies as needed based on PAR sheet
Maintains OSHA required Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all campus chemicals, updating and distributing as necessary
Cleans and cares for buildings and facilities on a routine schedule to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner
Manages and maintains storage areas, cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of staff, youth, and the public
After daily custodial duties are complete, assists in the completion of maintenance work orders.
Checks PM schedule board and performs items as required
Communicates pertinent information to Senior Director of Administration on a daily basis or immediately in certain situations.
Works within the philosophy and function of the Children's Home Network.
Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred and at least one year experience in custodial/maintenance work
Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension.
Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance. Must be insurable under CHN's current auto insurance policy.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be skilled in the safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals and machinery.
Must have working knowledge of all kinds of floor maintenance procedures.
Ability to work effectively as a team member
Must have basic mechanical skills
Competencies & Professional Development:
Annual Training Requirements: The following training topics are required annually: Sexual Harassment, Blood-born Pathogens, Workplace Accident Prevention and Reporting, Confidentiality and Privacy Practices, Diversity/Cultural Competency, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Statutes and Methods, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals.
Essential Physical Skills:
Able to lift at least fifty pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Visual: ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, mowers and other lawn machinery, read printed materials, and make observations of physical facilities.
Hearing: ability to understand and comprehend spoken dialogue in individual and group settings.
Frequent use of hands.
Ability to bend and stoop, and climb ladders

Environmental Conditions:
Works with all kinds of cleaning materials.
Works indoors as well as outdoors.
Working environment may be slippery and unpleasant to the senses.
