Janitorial Specialist (Industrial EH&S)
The Janitorial Specialist (Industrial EH&S) is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across facility workspaces, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and high-traffic areas. This role supports Rittal's environmental health and safety (EH&S) standards by ensuring a clean, safe, and compliant workplace while upholding 6S principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain restrooms, break rooms, offices, conference rooms, and common areas
Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout indoor and outdoor designated areas
Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces and shared spaces
Perform general dusting, sweeping, mopping, and surface cleaning across the facility
Supply & Equipment Maintenance:
Restock supply carts and replenish cleaning materials as needed
Maintain organized and clean supply closets
Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals and PPE
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Safety First Aid Room
General EH&S Support:
Follow all EH&S and 6S standards to maintain a safe and compliant workplace
Identify and report any safety hazards or facility issues to management
Support environmental and safety initiatives across the facility
Additional Responsibilities:
Support cleaning needs during break and lunch periods as scheduled
Maintain good attendance and strong work ethic
Perform other cleaning or sanitation duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Ability to follow written schedules, procedures, and safety protocols
Strong organization and attention to detail
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Prior janitorial or industrial custodial experience preferred
Knowledge of Industrial EH&S standards, safe-work practices, and hazard awareness
Understanding of proper chemical handling, PPE use, and cleaning equipment operation
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching
Ability to lift (up to 50lbs) and carry cleaning supplies, tools, and trash bags
Ability to push/pull cleaning carts and mop buckets
Work Environment:
Indoor industrial and manufacturing areas
Occasional outdoor tasks
Exposure to cleaning chemicals (with PPE provided)
Safety Requirements:
Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and other PPE as required
Follow all Rittal safety procedures and EH&S guidelines
Direction & Decision Making:
Follow assigned cleaning schedule and daily priorities
Report safety or facility concerns promptly
Exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks
